#AMVCA contd...Inside the hall

Then we went into the hall and found the comperes to be good old IK in his suit (it cannot possibly be the same one he wears all the time, he probably has several of the same style and color cos he has found the style and color suits him best and I encourage him to stay on this path while friends like Jim Iyke survey new territories)

But IK is not the gist.

The gist is his female co compere… VIMBAI!…from Big Brother house. Where do I begin? Let me just end by saying she was annoying. She kept shouting into the mic, interrupting IK, laughing in high pitches, changed clothes several times from one poor choice to another until she ended with one very short number which inspired her to arrogantly continuously cross her legs while talking to us.

Did Vimbai not recognize that she was in the presence of Nollywood Royalty? In the presence of true, pure African Magic? Oh well they made their choice in selecting her let them stew in it….Lol! If I want to be fair to Vimbai I’d say she was excited but not prepared for the opportunity so I forgive her.

I think OC was a bit arrogant when he came to receive his award. Going on about how Africa Magic has finally put their money where their mouth is…bla bla bla and then thanked everyone from Lagos to his village. That’s just my opinion though.

Mercy Johnson added drama even in her absence. OH Mercy have mercy on us, next time send an acceptance video.

Genevieve changed her dress…. thank God for that! The one she wore on the red carpet was a DISASTER but I guess her true friends must have given her the yellow one which she eventually wore for the rest of the evening. Im guessing someone saw her in the white one and lovingly ran to their boot where they were keeping some options and gave her the best fit. Or maybe it was from Vimbai’s collection. The initial dress was white, then the top was shaped like a jacket with absolutely nothing under...yep...the boobs made a red carpet appearance too. Kinda like what an Angelina Jolie would wear …in black….but you see... to pull off that dress you need to have a Brad Pitt on your arm and some great tape to help ur bossom seem “perky” . Personally I think this is Africa, don’t wear that dress here at all.

Denerele asked her “if your underwear could speak right now, what would it say?” Hmm at that point I thought to myself …A Hollywood star would have laughed in a high pitch and said” I’m not wearing any underwear” but Gene was like ahhhhhhhh…*speechless* before Denrele came to her rescue…“it would say you left me at home” she blushed deeply and walked away. By the next time we saw her she was in that yellow number that was a few inches from being a turtle neck . Well done sis . It’s good to listen. I also noticed no pictures of the white dress have leaked into the press so far. Honestly Genevieve’s publicist is GOOD!!! Would you sign me up too please?

Liz Benson left Nollywood and got married to a Bishop and it showed from her hair to her outfit to her acceptance speech….acceptance of the role of an award presenter that is!! She thanked so many people with such display of emotions and passion that you would think she won an award. HALLLOOO!!! She only came to present an award Lol!. Oh well the microphone and the stage would do that to you if you don’t think about what to say before you get there.

Just like the lady who came on with Jim Iyke. After embarrassing him thoroughly for looking at her in a chauvinistic manner and reporting him to the whole world that he did not come for rehearsal, she proceeded to ramble on until she had to beg the same Jim (who stood criminally quietly by her side with his anger tightly tucked in behind his shades) to save her from herself; then he proceeded to announce the nominees.

Othelo Burning won Best Movie and the guy in the entourage of ladies who came to recieve the award should be screened for drugs.#imjust saying!!!

The event ended with Femi Kuti rendering a song which I believe he concocted only the night before.

The audience was not electrified neither were they mesmerized, they walked out as he sang. Except Denrele of course who went and stood infront of the stage dancing in his overly energetic way. It is well.

Overall AMVCA was the bomb! We want MORE.
My friends and I had a nice time watching, analyzing, criticizing, celebrating on BBM, Twitter and FB; you would have thought we were among the people seated in the hall, fanning themselves fervently. Please what happened to the air conditioning? Either DSTV money no reach AC or Eko hotel people are wicked. I rest my case….ROTFL

#AMVCA ..I saw the whole thing

OK maybe missed like 30-45 minutes inclusive of when the ministers spoke but I started from the red carpet where Denrele did excellently except for one or two glitches which come along with the spontaneity of a live show.
Following him closely were the non Nigerian presenters who I might even say did  better than Denrele but I can’t fully say that because we were exposed to Denrele 10x more than we were to them. However they handled spontaneity excellently, diction was clear, interview questions were intelligent and they were very professional. Uti was equally wonderful; fantastic job, a natural.
My dear friend Helen Paul ; I think too many personalities working in her and sometimes she doesn’t decide on time which one to channel…Helen the Jara presenter, Tatafo the comedian or Helen Paul the playful lady. The solution to this would be for her directors to give her clear directions and stop allowing her “wing” it. Then we will see the best of her in such situations.
There was this lady who did not get her facts right about the guy she was interviewing, she made a mistake  but I must say he handled it so well and corrected her I had to applaud. You see among several titles and accolades she reeled out about him, she announced  that  he was the “owner of TRUE Love Magazine’ while  actually he is the owner of Complete Fashion Magazine… so there! The only thing worse than this in the History of my watching Africa Magic  was when The deputy Governor of Lagos state referred to Maltina Dance Hall as Malta Guinness Dance Hall in front of the whole world  with the MD Nigerian Breweries standing by her side and several  branding visuals of MALTINA staring at her.
