A tale of 2 13 years old projects...HOTR cathedral & the Okelues

The fresh Mr & Mrs Henry Okelue ...
13 years later

The Fresh HOTR Cathedral...
13 years later
Funny story, the House on the Rock Cathedral was dedicated yesterday right? GEJ was in attendance for real... by the way.

Then this wedding reception held at the Bespoke center which is located right beside the HOTR cathedral (though reception started after HOTR event ended and GEJ et al had evaporated).

However that is not the gist.

The gist is that it took HOTR 13 years to build the cathedral just as it took this young man (Henry) in the picture 13 years to woo this lady (Elohor) to be his wife....you read me right -13 years!!

They met at a Daddy Showkey concert in UNIBEN 13 years ago and he fell for her and has never retreated. The wedding was fun because amongst other reasons, I was the compere * batting eyelids fervently* PLUS their friends, family and well wishers were just fun loving people, including her excellency the 1st lady of Lagos state who was in attendance.

But the high point for me was after their first dance to a very slow romantic number, the DJ played Daddy Showkey's song immediately and the groom and his friends went into a crazy dance frenzy...daddy Showkey style.

It was hilarious...Elohor's eyes nearly popped out of her head and she almost ran away from the alarming "razzness" of it all...her friends pushed her to stay and dance along.

It was too funny.

Don't worry guys I will soon start carrying video crew around to capture such surprising moments for you.

My money never complete...Lol!

Back to the 13 years matter.... so...I will keep watching this couple and HOTR to see if there will be any more similarities...I will remind you guys if anything comes up...watch out for season 14...Lol!

Pix story: The First Lady and I

Her Excellency Mrs. Emmanuella Babatunde- Fashola
and I

Didn't know she would be at the event; one minute I was trying to invite the couple to cut their cake and the next minute someone was telling me that the first lady was around and I should recognise her presence immediately.

So...I just announced
"Ladies and Gentlemen it is my honour to inform you that the wife of the first lady of Lagos state is with us..."

then everybody started screaming...Lol.

Then I was like: What???

Then someone repeated what I said to me...

(If you didn't get it, read it again ROTFL!!)

so I corrected myself, apologised and told them I was overwhelmed, didn't know she would be around, if I had known, this was not the dress I would have worn...LOL!

Mercifully the crowd understood, forgave and forgot. Phewww!!!

Twas a Dame P moment right there.

In other news, she was very warm, full of smiles, simple, very prayerful and motherly. She also laughed at all my jokes and told me it is well with me...

*grinning foolishly* So many friends have asked me why my smile was so wide? leave me biko it is not easy.

Pix of the day

Don't say I never give you contacts.
Twill be my pleasure to compere at the event

False Alarm tinzzz

I used to wonder what artistes need a manager for???...

A publicist; Yes! I understand why they are necessary infact I have been praying for the perfect one for me to come my way but a manager? I failed to see their need, until today....Lol.

I have some bookings - back to back and lets just say I almost gave a bride a heart attack when the event planner called me and off the top of my head I mixed the dates up but THANK GOD...its all clear now. *sigh*

Dear Lord, Increase me so I can employ and pay a manager, publicist, make up artiste, stylist, wardrobe coordinator, hair stylist, lawyer, first aid team on standby (incase I break a nail), my own mic I go everywhwere with and hence sound team, personal caterer who follows me around and refreshes me (as in boxing match frequency),driver, PA, handbag holdee, purse holder, camera crew and security all in my CHIGO branded and customized Mercedes trailer /Van everywhere I go for an event.

All of them will follow me to your wedding and you must feed them oh ......Lol...

OK, my personal caterer will feed them. Don't fret.

*Yawn!* this  is definitely a wild dream ...hehehehe...but it will come true. *Wink*

Dear Lord help me i'm learning to speak french and I am so tempted to call the whole thing off, I have only done one class and I am so scared because well....Its a whole languagggggeeeee with so many words and I am scared I cant keep up.

Let me think; have I ever attempted any new thing that made me feel this level of fright? I dont know...If I did, I have forgotten.

Ok guys wish me luck and give me tips. I am also taking lessons in filming and editing, I look forward to those classes but french I dread....and I have only had one class....Lol!

I need audio tapes or something to add to the class, I dont know what the issue is ...I am worried ....sounds like a small issue  abi in view of Boko Haram bombings and child malnutrition *sigh* dont mind me ....just sharing my thoughts:-)

By the way Im learning french because 2 different friends of mine encouraged me to do it...they told me it would add value to my career in communications and as a compere...so I dived in.

Laugh out Loud

*Wide eyed* So someone told me that someone told him that someone told him that someone said that my blog is too serious!!! *panting * Did you follow that? * more panting *
….So this is me saying to the person that told the person who told the person who told me what you said…that contrary to what you might enjoy *gaining some attitude now*….. this blog  is for class and not for trash,
It is for lifting people with factual news/gist that is worth my time and not for putting down or shredding people with rude unconfirmed, malicious gossip about houseflies and rodents that don’t matter to me.
It is not for tacky conversations rather it is for conversations that can one day change the world.
It is also about me and therefore the way I roll is the way it’s gonna roll….*in full gear now* so if you don’t like it kindly move on to the next blog or better still hang around and let me and my peeps educate and illuminate your mind.
A B C Ya! *Snap! Snap! Snap!* Takes a bow for my angry black woman Oscar*

Did you listen to Wana and Pdoc. yesterday night on 92.3 IFM?

So PDoc. was on les radio last night with Wana Wana on 92.3 Ifm!!!! (I’m learning French so excusez moi)
They broke down the issues surrounding mental health and faith in the wake of the recent sad passing away of Rick Warren’s son.
The interview was largely prompted based on some very rude comments people made when the sad incident happened ..”the boy is going to hell” , “so he is a pastor and he couldn’t heal his son”, How can a pastor’s son be possessed with mental illness” bla bla bla …..very hurtful comments made out of obvious ignorance.
Wana and PDoc. dealt with the issues and PDoc. tried his best to strike the balance.
Mental illness is real just like physical illnesses such as malaria, infections, cancer etc. and even though God heals, physicians  still have to treat sometimes Isaiah 38:21, also if someone dies from physical illness , that is not an automatic ticket to hell fire, same with someone who commits suicide due to mental health issues….they didn’t know what they were doing…at least that was one of the things I picked from the conversation…. so I think it helped, I hope it helped. Thank you Wana Wana..or as some die hard fans say...Wana Pinzie and Pansie and all other hailings..Lol!
So looking for a psychiatrist in Lagos? You can reach Dr. Otefe Edebi . for more psych consult or information on +234 802 999 8091. He also consults at Avon medical Services No. 8 Adedamola Ojomo close, Off Bode Thomas Surulere on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3-5 PM  then at The Hosanna Healthcare  4th Avenue by 42 road junction, Festac town Lagos on Mondays and Thursdays 3-5PM and you can Skype with him on Gracehill.Mconsult. Email address is doctoredebi@gmail.com.
So if  you know someone who needs help but they or their relatives are too shy to visit Yaba or Aro and they are  afraid of the stigma, then the person can walk into any of these private hospitals for information and psychiatric consultation.
It is well with us and our families in Jesus name. Amen
By the way….PDoc. Stands for “Pastor Doctor” (in this case Psychiatrist & Psychologist) and he is also my husband who has passion for demystifying mental illness and helping its sufferers lead normal lives free of sickness and free of stigma.

*sigh* I blame the photographer lol

Compering  an AGM
.... guest is about to lead the opening prayer

Go Kate Henshaw!

If you know me, you will know I absolutely loooove Kate Henshaw, largely because she is very approachable, helpful, down to earth and YES! Who can fault that smile?
The cameras love her (both video and still) and I must say Samsung choosing her as an ambassador for their brand is a perfect choice.
I actually didn’t know she had been chosen as their ambassador (don’t mind me, my head has been under water for a while…work! work! Work!) so first I saw her on the cover of a magazine in a hot black number with Banky W for Samsung /Airtel then I saw her on the WoW magazine cover and then I saw her in a Samsung/MTN collabo…twas like everywhere I turned, Kate was there…all the pictures were off the chain and that was when it hit me that she must be an ambassador…thanks to Google it is confirmed …but that is not the gist…the gist is that each picture is so lovely and in my opinion, Kate’s smile is definitely going to sell some phones.
Who says you have to put naked girls on the ad to sell something, just get Kate and her smile or get me and my mic…Lol
Thumbs up to her and of course the publicist behind the deals...if there is one. Call me maybe? *wink*

Thank You Madam Margaret

My friends started updating their BBM status…that’s largely how
I get my news…is that a good thing?

So anyway for the first time in a long list of celebrity/popular person deaths , this one has touched my heart because I know that this woman is "THE" woman who made it possible for a woman like me somewhere in the heart of Nigeria to become a compere in 2013 and it is acceptable by the society without a bat of an eyelid. She was not perfect...no one is but....

She made it possible for a woman like me to find my voice in my society and be heard.
I understand she passed on at the age of 87 and I have done the math so that means she became Prime Minister at age 34.

To the glory of God I am not yet 34 (*wink*.....Lol) but I am glad that just like her I have found my calling in life and I know what I want to do with my life as I grow up and indeed I am doing it.

Thank you Madam Margaret

…..May God Bless your memory here on earth.
