Airtel covers Beverly and Melvin as they hit Airtel HQ to greet CEO and staff

That reminds me....was at Airtel head office on Friday when Beverly and Melvin of the Big Brother  fame hit the office for a visit before their welcome party in the evening.
For whatever reason, either for the purpose of branding or for the purpose of keeping the office male folk focused on their jobs, Airtel had to give them a change of clothes. You will understand as you continue

Beverly arrived like so to Airtel Head Office,
that's Chioma of CSR and James Head of PR
Melvin came like so.
That's Evelyn of Marketing

Airtel got them covered like so.
Extreme left; Chinedu of HR and Priscilla from Airtel Uganda also of HR in white
Not quite sure of the other lady's details

My dad is a huge fan of big brother,
even on his sick bed he was asking for update,
so I took this pix to show him.
He may just put it by his bedside and remove the ones of his grandchildren...Lol

Extraordinary Nigerian Woman: Oluyemisi Wole-Ojomo

OLUYEMISI WOLE – OJOMO bagged a first degree in Electronics/ Computer Engineering but today she is a HR professional and a Career Coach. She currently practises HR within the Nigerian banking industry. She began her career in I.T but discovered her passion for helping people maximise their potentials.

Hear her:
“I knew I was not on the right career path. I knew I was not going to be fulfilled as an Engineer/ IT professional and I also knew that I was called to do things around people not machines”
After a few years of working in I.T, she moved on to obtain a 2nd degree; an MSc. in Human Resource Management. She became a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (UK) and these qualifications gave her a leap into the world of  Human Resources from the world of hard core machines. She is involved in a lot of volunteer work with a number
of NGOs. She engages in public speaking initiatives on Career guidance, progression and development targeted at school children and job seekers and she does part time work with L.E.A.R.N which is the pet project of the Lagos State First Lady in addition to HR advisory for companies
I detect a passion for machines still lies in the 30 something year old because she says given a chance to choose another career she would choose Professional Car Racing in the United States…Lol!
Her word of encouragement to other ladies who would love to walk in her steps:
“I started my first job with a bank and because of my educational background; I was drafted into the IT department of the bank. For about 4 years I did this job but I had my eyes on HR. I often went to the HR department of the bank to help them do the most mundane things just because I wanted to be in that environment.
About 4 years into my stay in the bank, I had gathered enough money to go abroad for my Masters degree in Human Resource Management. I did not allow the negative advice of some of my colleagues back then to deter me from my goal; I took the bull by the horn, resigned my job and went off to obtain this qualification and others so that I could have a launching pad for my career change.
After a few years abroad, I returned back home to seek for employment. This didn’t come immediately but I stayed focused despite the fact that I got job opportunities to do other things and even a good opportunity to return back to IT but I refused; I was determined, it was HR or nothing.
Then I got a job but it came with a big pay cut but I didn’t mind; I saw it as an opportunity to launch myself into my new career path rather than a “demotion”. Today, that sacrifice has paid off.
My counsel to that woman who is thinking of a career change will be –
§  Keep your eye on the goal; do not lose focus
§  Get the required qualification (if necessary) for your new career choice
§  Get experience even if it comes with a pay cut or it is a volunteer job
§  Above all, look to God for divine direction and counsel.”
Let’s hear it for yet another Extraordinary Nigerian Woman… Oluyemisi Wole-Ojomo.
Please keep the flag flying maam.

Extraordinary Nigerian Woman...Aderonke Lawal

Aderonke Lawal while growing up thought it would be best to be a stock broker or investment banker. So post-graduation from Lancaster University (with a year at The University of Richmond) where she undertook a degree in International Business (Economics). She worked with the Insolvency Service and upon leaving university moved on to the DTI.  She then started working as a finance and personnel manager for a top health and fitness company where she confirmed that her passion was really for business growth and business marketing. She took on her very first client whilst still working, eventually gathered her savings then left that job to focus on her true path as the founder of RSL; a marketing management business which works with SMEs and entrepreneurs to reach the best that they can. This was in 2004 and at this time she was just in her early twenties.
In order to succeed, she drew up a concise business plan and focused on networking … her research as a young entrepreneur showed her that networking was crucial in growing her business and it did. Today she has not only grown RSL to enviable heights, she is also a partner in a London based fashion label; The Simone Williams Label – www.simonewilliams.co.uk, she is on the board of Trustees of Voluntary Action Islington, on The Employers Panel for the National Employment Savings Trust and on the board of advisors for Precious Online. She is also a Mentor for The Cherie Blair Foundation and a mentor for The EN Start Ups Campaign for young entrepreneurs. All in the UK! *Good stuff*
Her advice to  ladies who would like to do as she has done...
It can be lonely if you don’t have a business partner.  There are absolutely no guarantees; you have to create your own path and follow it; learn from mistakes and pick yourself up. I have had to repeat that mantra to myself; even whilst it seemed sometimes that I was not moving forward but I am able to stay focused and motivated because deep down I know that I am worthy of greatness.”
1)    Follow your passion and stay focused.
2)   Make sure you actively network in your business and professional life and engage with the right people, but be sure to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
3)   If you can, get a mentor, or at least surround yourself with a positive and powerful circle of people who will champion you in your career journey.
4) Seek continual business development through training and seminars; education is important but only if used actively. Use education wisely as part of your long term professional strategy.
5)  Most importantly be courageous; a member of the chamber’s tagline is “I go where there is courage” – I think this should be everyone’s tagline. Be brave in your career.
6)   Don’t ponder on mistakes for too long, learn from them and move on. You can reach anywhere in your business if you so wish – don’t let anyone hold you back, least of all… yourself.
This busy lady says she would have also loved to be a travel journalist or a counsellor.
Let’s hear it for Aderonke Lawal an Extraordinary Nigerian Woman.

Calling all EXTRAORDINARY NIGERIAN WOMEN OUT!

So I was carrying out  a small assignment for a friend the other day and I was unpleasantly surprised to find out that the  Nigerian female “role models” we have today who get much online visibility are either entertainers or politicians. Then don’t get me started on the controversies surrounding the female politicians while  the publicists of the  entertainers try to make it look like taking a picture of your bikini bod or your face without make up is a skill worthy of celebration. *sigh*

See I’m just imagining my daughters coming home when they are older and doing a quick online search of popular women in Nigeria  and  I feel it’s going to look like if you are not an entertainer, then you must be a politician before you can get celebrated, honored or reviewed in this generation.

Anyway…..I have always been one to avoid pointing fingers and try to participate in the change. So I have decided to give extraordinary achieving women a platform on my blog so we can celebrate them.

Yes I am going to share the spotlight on my blog…lol

No! seriously…I know some Extraordinary Women who are doing amazing things with their brains and their lives and I am going to be showing them off right here whether they cooperate with me or not because I have found that the kind of women I am talking about…they like to hide, they can form shyness…. but I say you can afford to be shy when you are thinking of only yourself. Think of the young lady you are inspiring and giving a picture of what her life can be?

When I was young I didn’t know  I could have a lucrative career or possible successful future in any other field apart from medicine or law or other professional companies.

Today I see there is MORE out there…who knew?

Maybe if I had attended those guidance counselling sessions the school fixed…just maybe…but I doubt it…lol

Do you know any Extraordinary Nigerian Woman?

Please send me her photographs and profile if she is shy and if she is not, then send me her contact so she I can send her interview questions. Send to Reachchigo@gmail.com

Let’s work together to Inspire someone, somewhere…a few inches from being lost and believing the only way to win …is to take your clothes off.

Hmm maybe  that’s  the tag line I have been looking for

You can win, without taking your clothes off!

Lost but Found!

Hallo dear friends
Tis been a while, I know.....* covers face in shame**
Honestly twas not my fault at all, I have been busyyyyy.
Working on myself to produce more exciting stuff for you and for me.I have been taking classes on visual production, beginning with filming to graphics and editing. (And Yes!.. there was my scary French lesson experience)
I have been busy and phew! It has not been easy.
Adult education is not a joke but I was getting desperate for more…. for growth, for life!...To do the things I really want to do.
I even went through the admission process to for an M.SC. program in Media and communication at Pan Atlantic Unversity.

I was admitted but had to decline for now because the amount of trainings and development programs that I am opportune to have access to right now may not come around again for a while. So I had to weigh my options and seize the moment. I can do the M.Sc. later.
Amongst my several projects that my friends and I at Voicewox Productions have been chasing for a while, I give God praise that after 'HOMEMAKERS' for Unilever on IFM, another Radio show has materialized. Yipee!
It is called 'CITY DIARIES'; a radio show on City 105.1 FM every Monday from 7-8PM. As you can see, it is brought to you by my number one Telecom best friend and client through the years- Airtel...Kisses and hugs to all my guys and gals @ Airtel.

Further info and promo may be found  below in this clip

P.s I designed poster and video myself.
For the poster, I used Corel draw; my trainer says it took him 5 years to teach us the things we have learnt in only 4 weeks of our 8 weeks classes…hope I tried? Lol!
